Travizory showcases innovative approach to border entry and exit in the Seychelles
The Travizory team recently had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Jim Donegan, the Special Advisor for Seychelles from the US Department of State, and Mr. Selim Selimi, UN Rule of Law specialist for the East Africa Transnational Organized Crime (EATOC) Programme, to its offices. During the visit, they had the opportunity to meet the members of the Travizory team in the Seychelles, take a tour of the operations room, and attend a demo of the Biocorridor.
With a shared interest in law enforcement and transnational crime, Mr. Donegan and Mr. Selimi were enlightened on the border security measures incorporated into the system currently being used by the Government of Seychelles. Seychelles is currently the only country in Africa with biometric borders and is fully compliant with UN mandates on electronic border security using Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record data. The Travizory team explained to Mr. Donegan and Mr. Selimi how Travizory’s sophisticated technology ensures the utmost security and privacy for all travelers to the Seychelles.
By using Travizory technology, the Government of Seychelles has made the process of entering and exiting the country faster, more efficient, and more secure. As Mr. Donegan and Mr. Selimi observed, the UN World Tourism Organization has identified the Seychelles Electronic Border System as the “best practice” in Africa for developing business intelligence to promote tourism. The Travizory system has helped the Seychelles grow its tourism industry faster than many other countries in Africa post-COVID-19. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, the Seychelles welcomed an impressive 89,699 visitors, marking an 86% increase from the previous year. In addition, the digital system has positioned the Seychelles as a security leader in the region.
